Terms of use
Short, readable terms for using the Bookplate website and app. By using them, you agree to these.
1. What Bookplate is
Bookplate is a read-it-later tool that stores your saved content locally on your own device. It is free and unlimited to use, with no account required, and is supported by advertising (see clause 6). Because your data lives on your device, you are responsible for backups — the Export function exists for exactly this, and we recommend using it regularly.
2. Your content is yours
Anything you save or write in the app belongs to you. We claim no rights over it and, by design, cannot access it. You're responsible for using the app in line with the rights of the content you save — clipping articles for your own personal reading is the intended use.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use the site or app to break the law, infringe others' rights, or attempt to disrupt the service or the retrieval services it relies on.
4. No charge
Bookplate is always free to use. There is no purchase required. Consumer guarantees under applicable law — including the Australian Consumer Law — apply and nothing here excludes them.
5. No warranty; limitation of liability
The site and app are provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of data — which is why Export exists. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
6. Third-party services
The app fetches articles via third-party retrieval services, and both the site and a single in-app slot may show advertising via Google AdSense (see the privacy policy). We don't control third-party sites you save or visit.
7. Changes
We may update the app, the site, and these terms; the date below reflects the current version. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
8. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Contact: contact@getbookplate.com.
